Unceded Airwaves Episode December 8, 2022
Northerners In the Rain
8:00pm - 9:00pm
Unceded Airwaves on 101.9 FM, hosted by the Indigenous Collective at CiTR. Unceded is a weekly radio show and we aim to showcase the diversity and brilliance of Indigenous cultures while highlighting influential Indigenous kin. We recognize that media has often been used as a tool to subordinate or appropriate Indigenous voices and we are committed to subverting these dynamics. The team is comprised of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who are passionate about story-telling, alternative media, and Indigenous affairs.
On this episode, Kleo Skavinski (they/them) and Breeya Matheson (she/they) meet in the studio to talk about their shared roots in Denendeh, Treaty 8 and 11 territory. Breeya speaks about their experience as a student from Yellowknife, NT during the Pandemic, and moving to Vancouver, BC. Kleo and Breeya discuss the weather in relation to the winters they both grew up with. It was a joy to have two northerners in the studio for Unceded Airwaves. Looking forward to more interesting conversations to come!
