Unceded Airwaves Episode January 16, 2019
How We're Talking about Wet'suwet'en
2:00pm - 2:56pm
Today we talk about the local and international conversation around the ongoing conflict on Wet'suwet'en territory. We have a roundtable with CBC Indigenous reporter Chantelle Bellerichard, UNDRIP expert Sheryl Lightfoot and poet/media specialist Autumn Schnell. Chantelle tells us about reporting at the Gidimt'en checkpoint when it was breached by the RCMP. Sheryl puts these events in context with the United Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Thanks to Jamuna and Steph for co-hosting today's show. We broadcast from the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples.
