Unceded Airwaves Episode December 5, 2018
Decolonizing UBC Campus
2:00pm - 2:59pm
Today we talk about existing in a colonial post-secondary institution as Indigenous students. We talk politics and representation. We begin with UBC's newly formed Indigenous Committee, including a pre-recorded interview with founder Rodney Little Mustache / Maistoo'a Waastaan, and Laura Beaudry, a committee member and CiTR's Indigenous Liaison. Committee member Kaz Tyabji also joins us in studio.
Then, we hear Rodney and Laura talk about their experiences as Anthropology students. Anthropology graduate student Karen Thomas joins us in-studio to talk about her work decolonizing the discipline.
Thanks to our co-hosts Jamuna Galay-Tamang, Jess Mackie, Autumn Schnell, Amanda Sorensin and Steph Wood for bringing you this episode. Thank you to Kaz and Karen for joining us in studio. We broadcast from the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples.
