UBC Happy Hour Episode January 19, 2018
S1 E14: Women in Power
5:00pm - 6:08pm
In a lead-up to the "Women's March-On" event taking place on January 20 in Vancouver, UBC Happy Hour is dedicating our full episode to women in power in and around UBC! First, hosts Alex Lenz, Amy Shandro, Lalaine Alindogan are sitting down with UBC Economics Professor Dr. Marina Adshade to discuss why governments should fund birth control, and the "gatekeeper model" of consent and how it relates to Aziz Ansari. Amy Shandro is talking to actors Olivia Lang and Jed Weiss from She Kills Monsters, a Dungeons & Dragons-themed, feminist play showing at the Chan Centre. Julia Farry is talking to the CEO of Technical Safety BC Catherine Roome about what it's like to be a powerful woman in engineering. And last, Alex Lenz talks with queer law student Grace McDonnell about challenging Trinity Western Law School at the Supreme Court.
