IWD 2019 - Glitterball! + Tayybeh
10:00am - 11:00am
Part 1: Madeline (Host of Shoes on a Wire Mondays 4-5pm), is joined on the phone by Mati Cormier to talk about Glitter Ball Festival and Cushy Entertainment.
"Glitter Ball is a music festival fronted exclusively by women and those who identify with other marginalized genders, welcoming cis women, trans women, genderqueer women, non-binary folks, and those who otherwise challenge the cis heteronormative binary.
There will be disco balls, donuts, and dancing ?"
Part 2: Tayybeh is a social initiative for Syrian women living in Vancouver. The project started in October 2016 with a pop-up dinner aimed at raising money for women newcomer chefs. Following the success of this event, the Tayybeh journey began. Today, Tayybeh caters every possible festivity in Vancouver, spreading the unique Syrian cuisine in the foody city. In October and November 2018, Marianne (UBC Geography Student) met the ladies of Tayybeh at different events they catered. Pleasantly surprise by the women’s initiative, she decided to share her encounters and discoveries. The French and English versions of the podcast intend to give them a new voice and urge us to share the word!
