JAMIE CLAWSIN (she/her) is a Hip-Hop/Rock artist and 1/4th of the group, Hazmat Crew. Though based in Coquitlam, BC, she grew up in Surrey and started making music and performing at 14 years of age. She started with Hip-Hop and emceeing, but she eventually entered the realm of hard rock/metal and joined a metal band in high school as a vocalist and main lyric writer.
Though Clawsin considers herself primarily an emcee at heart, she also enjoys singing, producing instrumentals, and even mixing and mastering.
When Jamie was only 17, she joined the BC and Washington based Hip-Hop collective known as the Hazmat Crew, started by RcThaHazard. Though she's been with the Hazmat Crew over 10 years, she is also a solo artist as well and has worked with artists such as Twisted Insane, Debo of Horseshoe Gang and Pace-won of The Outsidaz.
Since coming out as trans in 2021, she has since started to rebrand herself as a solo artist, as she is "no longer afraid to express any side of herself" she states.
Portions of her new solo album THE CLAW MACHINE will not only be tackling issues such as mental health and addiction but will also be dealing her struggles with gender dysphoria, her sexuality and homophobia and transphobia in Hip-Hop. The upcoming project (which is slated for a fall 2023 release), features artists such as Yellow Bunny, Savi of Super Kawaii, Mista Pompeo from Poland as well as production from RcThaHazard, Flux and Vicious 5150.
She can be heard on RcThaHazard’s latest single “Uncomfortable” (which also features another queer artist, Adam Fram) as well as the newest Hazmat Crew album “Hazardous Waste. Vol.3”. Learn more about the music at hazmatmusic.com or the artist at @jamieclawsin on Insta!
