He's a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He ruled the charts, stage, screen, and airwaves of the 1940s. He was a profound influence on the blues, rhythm & blues (R&B), and rock and roll, including Ray Charles, James Brown, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and even Bill Haley and the Comets. It could also be argued he was one of the first rappers.
