As always, our First Saturday of the Month show is a deep-dive retrospective of some label, artist or other aspect of the history of blues music. This time out, we take a look at a small label run by Fred Litwin in Toronto from 2001 to 2010. Over 50 CDs were released, including outstanding artists like Watermelon Slim, Janiva Magness, The Twisters, Harry Manx & Kevin Breit, J-W Jones and Carlos Del Junco. NorthernBlues specialized in what Fred liked to call “interesting original music”.
