Led by the great Canadian born trumpeter, Maynard Ferguson,this band was second to none for dynamics and excitement and creativity. Solid arrangements by members like trombonist Slide Hampton, tenor saxophonist Willie Maiden and trombonist Don Sebesky and contributors like Benny Golson, Marty Paich and Jimmy Giuffre. Great soloists like the leader and alto saxophonist Jimmy Ford, Carmen Leggio on tenor and Joe Zawinul on piano coupled with a driving rhythm section of Jimmy Rowser on bass and the great Frankie Dunlop on drums made this band one of the best.
