New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy

Miki Yui – As If

This is the first time I’ve heard Miki Yui. The creepy synths surrounded by noises that come forward and retreat are some of the best I’ve heard all year. This is so full sounding and professionally put together. Go and pick this one up and listen to it in headphones. A spooky ride through sound. I’m going to check out more of Miki’s work now. This album hooked me.

Faux Tapes – Dive

When a beautiful melody hits you, it makes you smile, right? When a melancholy melody is heard, it makes you think and feel. You think of your past and future all at once. When that melody is outstanding, well, the sky’s the limit. This is how I feel from listening to ‘Dive‘. Like anything is possible. Drifting warm pads with the right reverb and melodies so beautiful in their simplicity, you simply have to hear this!

Gareth Jones – Void Concrète

I don’t review singles. I like to hear how an album opens up and review it based on how it flows and moves. I’ll make an exception with Gareth Jones. The man is a legend. Go look him up after you read this and listen to this single. Expertly crafted with a slight sense of dread. I love how he handles noises. I really hope he’s coming out with a full album of this soon. This track is gold.
