CITR’s 24 Hours of Radio Art in a snack sized format. Dark Ambient. Drone. Field Recordings. Noise. Sound Art. Or something.
Tonight’s broadcast features more violin-noise-doom from Vancouver’s The Nausea, Regen Graves, Jean-Emmanuel Rosnet, the Deconstructing W.S. Burroughs collection, plus music from Shinji Wakasa‘s ‘Sound of Dawn‘ installation (Tokyo), new Mindbleeder, Tam Lin, Celer, Tenhornedbeast – and Holy Thunderin’ Moses! – I can’t believe it’s already been ten years since the last reissue, but we’re going back to the well with a newer (re)reissue of Coil / NIN’s out-of-print ‘Recoiled‘ EP. (Whew!)

New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy
Coil / NIN – Recoiled
Trent Reznor is a Coil fan. You can tell that when you hear his music. When Trent asked Coil, (Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson and John Balance), to do five remixes from his first three releases, the end result was mind-blowing. A scattered explosion of sounds arranged in a genius pattern that surpassed every other Nine Inch Nails remix I’ve ever heard. I remember when this came out, and thinking it was so good it’ll be around forever. And then…it disappeared. Ten years later, Cold Spring Records have re-released it. I can’t tell you how happy I was when I heard this was coming. Cheers to CSR for bringing it back. They always choose winners to re-release and this one is legendary. Pick this one up soon! Who knows when it will disappear again?
Celer – Perfectly Between Us / It Would Be Giving Up
I love the work that comes from Will Long, (aka Celer). He makes you feel like you are inside the music – like you’re floating in and out of he sounds. Perfectly crafted waves of ambience sing through the four track release – ‘Perfectly Between Us‘ – and take you to other places. An excellent way to spend an evening in headphones.
‘It Would Be Giving Up‘ is an earlier self-released, four track album from Celer that takes a detour from the floating ambience of ‘Perfectly Between Us‘. Made a few years earlier, this one is more textural and gritty, yet stays in the ambient realm with looping melodies that allow you to dream while being bathed in a multitude of sounds. This is the one I would start with first if you’ve never heard his work. You will hear more once you’ve experienced it. I guarantee it.
