DAVE DEVEAU & CAMERON MACKENZIE

DAVE DEVEAU (he/him) is a playwright, producer, drag queen and big gay dad who has dedicated his life to developing intelligent, theatrical plays for young people that foster conversation. His work has been produced across North America, and Europe. He is also the Founding Associate Artistic Director of Zee Zee Theatre, a Vancouver-based theatre company that amplifies voices from the margins with a focus on LGBTQ2S+ work and is the Co-Artistic/Managing Director of Carousel Theatre for Young People.

In drag you may know him as Peach Cobblah, who alongside husband and drag-wife Isolde N. Barron helped transform The Cobalt, an East Van space into a vital queer hub. This drag duo also co-created Tucked & Plucked: Vancouver’s Drag Herstory Live On Stage and Parents Are A Drag, a drag show for kids, commissioned by the Vancouver International Childrens’ Festival.

Cameron Mackenzie (he/him) Originally from South Africa, Cameron is a Director, Producer and drag queen and is founder and Artistic/Executive Director of Zee Zee Theatre. Over the past 4 years Cameron’s passion project has been the development of The National Queer & Trans Playwriting & Public Reading Series.

With more Directing credits than we have space to mention, Cameron is also a recipient of the Ray Michal Award for Outstanding Body of Work by an Emerging Director, and he has also been nominated for Outstanding Direction at The Jessie Awards. Mackenzie’s drag alter ego Isolde N. Barron has hosted numerous weekly and monthly shows, taught drag workshops for various ages.

The Papa Penguin Play, co-presented by Carousel Theatre for Young People, Vancouver International Children's Festival, and Zee Zee Theatre, at Granville Island's Waterfront Theatre runs from May 15-June 2.
Written by Dave Deveau and directed by Cameron MacKenzie, The Papa Penguin Play is inspired by the true story of Roy and Silo, two male penguins who were gifted an egg at New York's Central Park Zoo, and the beloved children's book about their story, And Tango Makes Three. Jenn Dahlen (she/her) was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta on Treaty 6 territory. She’s been playing music most of her life and is a proud member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and strives to further the aims of equity and inclusion in her workplace and beyond.
By day, Jenn works with the Planning Department for plumbing and HVAC maintenance at the City of Edmonton.
In addition, Jenn sings background vocals for multi-award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Ann Vriend, VREENED as part of the group "AV and the Inner City.” In her spare time, Jenn is a budding songwriter and enjoys jamming with friends.
