Writer/Director Mary Galloway (she/her) is an award-winning, Cowichan and mixed settler descent, filmmaker, actor, and fierce trailblazer; paving the way for Indigi-queer content creation.



She's currently based out of Treaty One Territory (Winnipeg, MB), but grew up on Vancouver Island, BC, and has projects screening around the globe. Galloway was a TIFF Rising Star, a WFF Talent to Watch, a recipient of WIFTV's Newcomer Award, and was named to The Hollywood Reporter's list of “Breakouts Making An Impact on Hollywood”.

She starred in the award-winning feature film Never Steady, Never Still, wrote, directed, and starred in the Canadian Screen Award-nominated Querencia, and recently directed an episode of the comedy series Acting Good. Galloway is a graduate of the world-class CFC Directors Lab and in 2022 was selected as a participant in the Academy of Canadian Cinema and TV's Executive Residency Program.



Her latest work “The Cowichan Sweater ; Our Knitted Legacy” was written, directed and executive produced by Mary and as she puts it, “has been made with an entirely Indigenous crew, on our own lands, and about our own Peoples. It is a love story for the beloved Cowichan Sweaters and Knitters.” The inside story that weaves together the rich history of the authentic Cowichan Sweater, who knits them, and how and why they became the beautiful, strong, icon of the Coast Salish Peoples.
