In this episode, we interview Dr. Julia Harten, an Assistant Professor in the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC. We speak with Dr. Harten primarily about her research on China’s shared rental market, and specifically her experience with the low-end "bed rentals" in urban cities. Dr. Harten shares how she conducted her unique research by actually living in one of these units for a short period, and elaborates about why the low-end rental market emerged and how her findings relate to global trends happening in cities and countries around the world.
