New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy
Lawrence English – A Colour For Autumn
A 15th anniversary release for ‘A Colour Of Autumn‘? Yes please! I love what Lawrence English does. His soundscapes trap me in my own universe and I could stay there all day. His programming of sounds is peaceful and lush. The melodies are spectacular and this re-release is sure to bring in new listeners. It has to. He’s awesome.
Ezekiel Honig – Unmapping The Distance Keeps Getting Closer
There is a story to this album. It winds through noises and glitches and find its way into your mind. I’m thrilled with the sparse treated synths against field recordings. This is music for your day. A soundtrack to what you do. I’ll be playing this over and over. I can’t see getting tired of it anytime soon.
Leo Okagawa – Lower The Tonearm
This album feels like you’re travelling through sound while standing still. The sheer scale of the field recordings on every track are like a vacation to somewhere you’ve dreamt of, but have never been to. A masterful use of what’s around and a great listen from beginning to end.
