New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy
Yui Onodera – 1982
One of my favourite releases of this year, ‘1982‘ bristles with the best of Boards Of Canada and Tangerine Dream without being either of them. Captivating and meaningful, pick this up if you’re a fan of lilting melodies delivered by broken pianos and computers on the verge of destruction. So much emotion comes from things about to break, and this album catches it like a tear on a napkin. Fantastic.
Fletina – Serrof
It seems that Unfathomless Records have won again with the excellent ‘Serrof‘ EP by Fletina – a dreamy hypnotic adventure into everyday sounds that brew and skip and percolate with absolute purpose and leave your mind wandering to whatever grabs your attention. It’s a perfect album to put in headphones and sit by the water. Introspective and beautiful, this is going to live on my phone for a very long time.
