Stefan Goldmann – Call and Response
An album that boasts that it “has been crafted entirely from artificial reverb and nothing else: historic and contemporary units, responding only to brief electronic impulses (clicks)” needs to be explored. The Ash International website has a well-worded description of the recording and its process, but I am blown away at how wonderfully rhythmic and ambient, and tense and loud, yet not rhythmic and not tense and extremely interesting this is. Sounds that build together and create interesting soundscapes. It’s mesmerizing and hypnotic. Each reverb has a different tail length, and that causes wonderful spillover to the other sounds. Edgard Varese would have loved this. I needed this one.
