New Music Review By Mark Hjorthoy
Arte Sacra Atelier – La Sacra Geografia dell’Europa
This is the first album I’ve heard from Francesco Antonio Perdonà. After some research, I’ve found very little of this creator’s life, other than he’s originally Italian, and lives in San Antonio, Texas. I did find his Bandcamp page, and whoa, what an impressive catalogue. His latest offering, La Sacra Geografia dell’Europa is a cinematic masterpiece. The movement, colour and evolving sounds kept my attention through the entire EP, and now I eagerly await the follow up. I suggest you check out his work at https://artesacraatelier.bandcamp.com/ for yourself. Sit tight and prepare to be still for a while. Great listening.
Aural Rage – The Doctine Of Maybeness
Danny Hyde is a visionary. Seriously. Never heard of him? He’s a producer, programmer, collaborator, engineer, etc. He’s worked with/for Coil, Chris & Cosey, Psychic TV, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Soft Cell, and on and on. His remixes are sonic brutality and beauty, but his shining gem to me, is his project Aural Rage. When left to his own devices, Danny Hyde creates genius. This compilation of his work as Aural Rage, titled is a superb collection of his original work, as well as some of his remixes. It’s a three disc set, and doesn’t cover a quarter of what he’s offered to the world. Serious and brooding, at times silly and gentle, this collection is a must have for those who crave the experimentation that brought new sounds to the world. Go to: https://infinitefog.bandcamp.com/album/the-doctrine-of-maybeness and dig in. Genius is such a light term for this.
