Various Artists – ‘Audio: An Experimental Noise Compilation’
Review By Mark Hjorthoy
When I was given Audio: An Experimental Noise Compilation to review, I have to say I was pretty excited. I am a big fan of experimental noise recordings, and dove into the package with high hopes.
What I found was cool. There are experimental noise recordings on the release, but there are also happy ambient pieces, metal, and pop songs on there too. This reminds me of the mixtapes we used to make off pirate and indie radio stations long ago. The tracks flow well on this comp, and I found myself being nostalgic for a time when we traded these with friends. Nice to see Gang Signs on this. I would never have thought to put them on a noise comp, but I’m starting to see how this works. Thanks for a pleasant surprise. I hope there are many more Excellent Jacket compilations to come.
