Last spring, we wrapped up our broadcast of the UBC 100 Docs series: ten radio documentaries which made use of our newly digitally-archived reel to reel audio content. Three of those documentaries went on to win National Campus and Community Radio Awards, and two more received honourable mentions.
CiTR is excited to announce an open call for those interested in producing a new crop of docs! We’re looking for people to create 5-30 minute-long radio documentaries on a topic of the producer’s choice.
CiTR will provide full support and training for documentary makers. Successful applicants will work closely with CiTR staff to learn about all aspects of radio documentary production, develop their stories, collect B-roll, conduct interviews, and finally mix together their piece. Finished projects will be broadcast live on CiTR 101.9FM and podcasted at www.citr.ca. Producers will also have the chance to submit their doc to the National Campus Radio Association Awards.
If you would like to produce a documentary, it’s mandatory to attend the How to Produce a Radio Documentary Workshop on January 19th, at the UBC Nest.
Details about how to apply can be found here. You can contact SpokenWord@CiTR.ca with any questions about the project.
Applications close on January 20th
