Are you interested in gaining editorial experience, working with a team of die-hard arts and music fans, and becoming an integral part of Vancouver’s oldest independent music magazine? Discorder is seeking a volunteer editor for its Real Live Action section!
We’re looking for someone with experience writing, communicating with a team, managing volunteers, and making deadlines. The ideal candidate is someone who knows Vancouver and the local scene: someone who can touch base with what’s happening in the underground, while also keeping track of the vital shows coming to town. As RLA Editor, it would be your responsibility to lay out a list of pitches for each month, assign them to contributors, get writers and photographers into the shows through the publicists, and then work with writers on their live show reviews.
The role will entail the chance for personal growth in editing, writing, managing volunteers, working with a team, and outreach. You will also have a large role in shaping the magazine. Your position will entail 25-30 hours of work per month, plus two mandatory team meetings. We are looking for candidates who can commit for at least a year, as this will be a leadership position at the magazine.
We are accepting applications until March 18th — please submit a resume, cover letter, writing sample, and a list of your top 5 music venues in Vancouver to Brit Bachmann at Editor.Discorder@citr.ca
