Friday June 26th and Saturday June 27th were our last Broadcasts from the old Student Union Building where CiTR lived in happiness, harmony, and Calvin and Hobbes themed brown brick walls for 46 years. We went out with a BANG on Friday night, featuring programming from guest Alumni programmers and hosts, Mike Klassen, Joe Naylor, David Love Jones, and many many more! If you missed us live on Friday, listen here.
On Saturday, Alumni guest host Ken Hardie & Friends were live from 11-1pm, before members of CiTR’s Student Executive, Erica Dolman, Jake Costello, Erik Coates, Christine Powell, Jon Kew, Robin Bunton, and Rohit Joseph took to the mics for our LAST EVER broadcast from the old SUB. To hear some stories, fun facts, and tunes from CiTR’s history, listen here.
After our send-off from the Student Executive, we transitioned to our brand-spanking new station at 2pm sharp with a performance by Victor Guerin, an Elder from Musqueam, who sang and drummed to acknowledge CiTR’s move and presence on Musqueam territory. For the rest of the afternoon, there were performances by TV Ugly, Sur Une Plage, live speeches, and interviews by special guests and Alumni. It was a party, and the perfect way to mark this huge shift for CiTR. If you missed us last weekend, tune in to the live broadcast here.
Thank you to everyone who came out! The new station is beautiful, come make radio with us. To see more pictures from The Wake, or our Last/First Broadcast weekend, check us out on Facebook.
