Next Tuesday is Alumni Night at SHiNDiG, followed by a fresh batch of local talent! Post-punk band Poles won this week, and will be back to compete in the semi-finals in January.
Founded in 1983, SHiNDiG has provided a platform to showcase local bands and musicians in all genres. This year, prizes include studio time, features in Discorder Magazine, music industry consultations, and showcases with Music Waste and Canadian Music Week!
On Tuesday, December 2nd, Glad Rags, Stanley Park, and Tarantula Head will be taking the stage.
Glad Rags is a female punk band, consisting of Andrea Demers, Sarah Jane Taylor, Tracy Thorn, and Selina Koop. Their debut EP was released in August, and can be streamed below!
Stanley Park is a fairly new trio, in its current form. The band played Music Waste this year. Take a listen to a couple live tracks posted on their Bandcamp page!
Tarantula Head is a Vancouver-based psychedelic punk trio. Comprised of Nick Collings, Sean Maschmann and Ryan Karl Schmidt, the band released their latest effort, The Deer Council, in May of 2014. Check it out below!
