A Good Woman of Setzuan is a re-imagining of Bertolt Brecht’s musical parable about the struggle to live a moral life in a society corrupted by greed and selfishness.
Staged in the lush environmental setting of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, this groundbreaking Seven Tyrants production gives audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the 20th Century’s greatest plays in one of Vancouver’s top attractions.
A Good Woman of Setzuan is a wildly entertaining examination of the relationship between economic systems and the moral standards they produce. In true Seven Tyrants fashion, A Good Woman of Setzuan draws from several translations of Brecht’s original German tale, to present a streamlined re-telling that modern audiences are sure to enjoy. The production features an original musical score and choreography, all performed live by the multi-talented cast.
